(Dubstep) tunes to look out for, June 2010

Hello internets! It’s been far too long since our last post, but fear not! We’re plotting a comeback of sorts, so don’t give up on us yet!

For now though, here are a few tunes from YouTube-land that I, for one, can’t wait to get my hands on….

First up, an incredible collaboration between Joker and TC:

Joker & TC – It Ain’t Got A Name

Next, a teaser for a tune that we can only hope will be released on Never Say Die sooner rather than later:

SKisM – Rave Review (Teaser)

PS: hardcore did it first.

Lastly, a ridiculous Passion Pit remix from Israel’s Borgore. (Yeah, we really like Passion Pit.)

Passion Pit – Sleepyhead (Borgore Remix)

Watch the synth at the drop on this one; it’s secretly a “Live to Tell the Tale” remix as well.

EDIT: Whoa! this one actually got released today.

Leela – I Love Being Invincible (HHC/DNB Mix)

dj leela

I probably should have posted this here when it was new… but I didn’t. After not releasing a demo in almost 3 years (as my super hero rave dj alter ego Leela) I was finally able to come up with something back in November that I’m still 92% happy with. It’s 37 tracks and pretty silly – clocking in at some ridiculously high bpm. Enjoy.

Date: May 12, 2009 8:38 PM

As a gift 2 my fans I have uploaded my remix of ‘Fer Sure – The Medic Droid (S3RL hardcore remix)’ and have made it downloadable, so it’s totally free 4 u 2 take.

It’s the full, mastered, DJ friendly version (with intro and outro) so it’s totally playable 4 all u DJ’s out there ;)

It’ll only b up 4 a month or so, so take it while u can.

Enjoy =)

I’ve been crushing on this remix for a while now.

Oh gosh big choon: The Streets – Blinded By The Lights (Unknown Dubstep Bootleg Remix)

From and an unknown dubstep bootlegger ( and via Mike Skinner’s own Twitter ) comes an awesome spacey and bassy rip of The Streets’ Blinded by the Lights:

(this clip comes from Skream’s Stella Session a few weeks ago. go get it.)

My dubstep collection is in desperate need of more bootleg, white labelish stuff. Perhaps I am just shopping in the wrong places, or not scouring the bins at halcyon regularly enough, but my crate is seriously anemic in the unlicensed remix department.

So dubstep heads: where the bootlegs at? Hook us up in the comments.

Passion Pit – Chunk Of Change

Passion Pit
Dude, have you heard Passion Pit? Until recently, neither had I- but if you like somewhat happy and melodic electronica with a catchy vocal, then this one is for you (and me).

Chunk Of Change was originally created as a Valentine’s Day gift for songwriter Michael Angelakos’ girlfriend while attending Emerson College in Boston. The sound can easily be compared to that of The Postal Service.

For me, standout tracks include I’ve Got Your Number, Smile Upon Me, and Sleepyhead.
